How Compound Interest Works
Compound interest is interest calculated on the initial principal as well as the accumulated interest from previous periods. Over time, compounding accelerates investment growth exponentially.
Mathematical Formula
A = P * (1 + r / n)^(n * t)
- A = Final accumulated balance
- P = Initial principal balance
- r = Nominal annual interest rate (in decimal form)
- n = Compounding frequency per year
- t = Investment duration in years
